Huge Disappointment - Not Worth the Money

This was a huge disappointment. The Secrets website advertises that all meals in all restaurants are available via room service 24 hours a day. This is absolutely false. Only a very limited menu including burgers and sandwiches were available. Breakfast was buffet style with three grills available and only one person cooking eggs to order. Many bowls on the buffet line were empty and many people stood in long lines waiting to get omelets/eggs. In one bar, the employee was eating at her desk and refused in interrupt her meal to pour a glass of wine. We paid for our friends to have dinner on the beach for their anniversary, but the dinner was charged to our room and theirs. It was a fiasco to get this corrected. Restaurants were not air conditioned and there were no overhead fans to attempt to keep air circulating. The rooms were adequate, but all-in-all, this was absolutely not worth the money we paid.

    Will not be back

This is my 2nd time at this resort. I will not be back as my stays at both the preferred and regular resorts were subpar. I first visited this resort in February 2022. We stayed at the preferred club and while the pool and beach were relaxing, the food and service were average. The room was above average as we had a great view and a nice turn down service each night. When we booked our stay at this resort for July 2025, we did not think it was worth paying the preferred room rate again and went with a regular stay. When we first arrived, we were given room 2252. Unfortunately, the cable did not work in that room and we had to stay in our room for several hours while the technicians attempted to fix it. Because they were unable to fix the cable, we were reassigned another room, 2352, that later that night. The following day, we noticed that the wall to the left of the shower leaked at random times. We put a towel underneath the leak to avoid having a wet floor. We showered and then noticed a gap beneath the shower floor and door. This, led to water leaking from the shower to the floor. You were forced to use several towels to soak up the water to avoid having a slippery floor. We then learned that several lights in the room did not work, including the light connected to the fan and near the bed. Unfortunately, we decided to stay in the newly assigned room because we realized this resort likely had multiple faults in all of its terms. When we slept at night, there was a flashing white light in the smoke detector that flashed every 15 seconds or so. This made it a bit difficult to sleep. Also, there was a gap between the front door and the floor which allowed flowers, dirt, etc to easily come into the room through the crack. On one occasion we ordered room service. We only ordered six bottles of water around 10 PM. About an hour past and we still did not have any water. So we called and asked for a status. We were advised that the water would be arriving to us shortly. Another hour or so passed, and we called again asking for the water. They said they were very busy and said the water delivery should be arriving shortly. We woke up the next morning, and unfortunately, but not surprising, no water had been delivered. We then called the front desk and advised them of our request to room service. About 45 minutes later, we received the requested water. At that point, we were ready to advise a manager of all the issues we were having. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were met with several excuses as to why the manager cannot meet with us. These excuses span over several conversations. It’s unfortunate that the excellence of wait, bar and housekeeping staff are being overshadowed by the subpar services provided by the front desk, managerial and room service staff for us and other guests.

Not Worth the Hype – Poor Service & Outdated Rooms

This was by far the most disappointing Secrets resort experience I’ve had. From pushy vacation club pitches at check-in to long waits for towels, food, and service—it was a mess. The room was outdated, room service cold, and outdoor drink service non-existent. Buffet lines were insane, food was barely labeled, and service was consistently unfriendly unless tipped. Hibachi “reservations” were a scam unless you bought a $70 wine bottle. Only the fitness center and one hibachi server were highlights. Don’t be fooled by the brand—this resort does not meet Secrets standards. Save your money.

    Secrets

The resort room and beach were amazing. The food was ok. I've been to Jamaica before and this stay was as good as my previous visit. My friends had discrepancies on their bill causing problems at checkout.

    Amazing Stay

I had an incredible time at Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay! The resort is beautiful, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. The food was delicious with plenty of variety, and the drinks never stopped flowing. The atmosphere was lively, with great entertainment, dancing, and lots of laughter. I can’t wait to come back!
