Strange way to “welcome” us
I will add more details towards the end of our stay. Visiting the “main pool” and being treated like scum kinda solidified why I am not interested in returning. There was chaos upon our entry - no warm welcome let alone welcome drink. We felt uncomfortable being shuttled to another desk to do strange paperwork after a long day of travel with 4 young children, let alone how we felt as adults - we would have liked to relax.

Don’t make the mistake we made !!
O my where to start. Lazy river and pool good. Food is OK at best, Service is terrible, staff is unfriendly, they try and push buying time share, we had a lot of issues. Couldn’t use beach and the smell is awful. This isn’t resorts fault but still it’s really nasty. Construction in and outside of resort. Management doesn’t care once you pay that’s it’s so plan on ZERO customer service preferred or not it doesn’t matter. I’m sure they will respond with generic sorry hope we can make it better next time. There won’t be a next time. Stay at Dreams Macoa beach we’ve been there twice and wanted to try Onyx and man was that a huge mistake. I can’t upload the construction video that was literally right outside of our swim up suite. They moved us and downgraded our room. They allowed us a $40.00 late 3pm check out.

Dreams Onyx Punta Cana – A Week of Fun, Relaxation & Great People
Just got back from a wonderful stay at Dreams Onyx and wanted to share what made it so special. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and professional. The grounds are stunning—lush, clean, and full of little spots to sit, unwind, or catch live music. We stayed in the Preferred Club for Adults Only, and having our own Bali bed right outside our room was the ultimate treat. Big thank-you to Elias, our butler for the week. We didn’t need much, but he always checked in, made our dinner reservations, and stopped by just to say hi or chat if he saw us relaxing. Such a kind and thoughtful guy. The Adults Only Pool was a vibe all on its own thanks to the incredible bar staff. Alejandro kept us laughing with his charm, jokes, and easygoing energy. He made everyone feel welcome and added so much fun to the experience. Ismael was right there with him, walking around the pool with his signature “Drinkie time!” call—so cute and totally unforgettable. And Nelis was a total sweetheart—always smiling, quick with a drink, and happy to chat. You could tell she genuinely enjoyed what she did. Shoutout to Jean and Angel for being super helpful and always ready with towels and a smile, and to all the others workers as well. The entertainment crew—Melaza, Vanilla Ice, and others—were fun, full of energy, and great at getting people involved. When we wanted to chill, the Lazy River was perfect. Floating in the sun with no rush—just bliss. Dinner at Spice was a standout. Huge thanks to Jael, the manager, who made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond. Whether you’re there for a sit-down meal or the teppanyaki show, the food is full of flavor and the service is amazing. Guile, Graciela, and the whole team really made it a night to remember (the live serenades were such a nice touch!). We also have to thank Monica, our housekeeping angel. She kept our room spotless, organized, and so inviting every single day. Her hard work made a big difference. And the Barefoot Grill—simple, tasty food like burgers, fresh salads, nachos, and fruit that always hit the spot. We loved it. Only downside? The seaweed at the beach was heavy while we were there, and the smell made it hard to enjoy the ocean. That’s just nature doing its thing—not the resort’s fault—and luckily the pool and other amenities more than made up for it. All in all, Dreams Onyx was beautiful, the service was top-notch, and the people truly made the experience unforgettable. Would definitely come back. Until next time… and yes, it’ll absolutely be Drinkie time! 🍹🌴
